To Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria, and all historic competitors, Last year Mount Gambier Motorcycle Club ran a very successful seniors day at MacNamara Park. It is scheduled to be held again on the 19th to 21st May 2002. The event last year brought about 140 riders out of the woodwork whom I hadn't seen riding for years. The racing continued over three days and the ambulance didn't move once. I think I only saw one guy fall off. I suggest the biggest attraction is not really the $50 entry fee for the three days, but the fact that the $50 includes a single event competition licence. These licences can be obtained in booklets of ten from MV/MA costing about $30 each licence. For riders like myself, and old A graders like Steve Oszko, the single event licence is really worthwhile. We only ride once or twice a year, and the bother of getting the real thing at approx $240 really puts us off. Steve has said that if he can have a single event licence he will turn up to the Mac Park oldies day every time. Suggest you people involved in organising historic races look at getting a few single event comp. licences for every event you hold, you could double your entries at some meetings. I think the group at the oldies meeting were a group of old ****ers, but they might just have been the 'real thing'. A lot of them brought some really nice bikes out that I haven't seen for years. My Seeley Norton 850 looked really substandard alongside Lindsay Urquardt's 62 Manx, and a lot of the others. I think it's really worthwhile encouraging them. Best Regards

I suggest it would be worthwhile for every rider involved in Historic Racing to write to his/her club, and ask the MA rep to put a case for single event licences to be available for every Historic Event in Australia. Most of us ride three times a year max., why should we pay $240 for a comp. licence which allows us to ride in open events, when we are not interested in them? Three single event licences would cost $90, surely that's enough to race with the old farts?
