Low bridges and the little arches in the drive thru service paths at fast food outlets.......... |

thanks popeye!,know all about low bridges but,the red van has a high roof + sunroof, closed that the hard way a few times!,gave the transit a service today,$80 for 4 plugs,(dearer than me race plugs!),struggled with oil filter removal, approx 1/2hr,jeezas what a tight sqeeze,(getting it out from around steering was painful)to think thats why i gave up mechaniken on late model jappos(no patience left after 20 odd years?)things we do?, |

we are hot on the trail of a 1976 Transit LWB van at the moment, have slashed 1500 off the asking price for the CB750 to raise the cash before it disappears. |

Boom..tish
far too sharp for that time of night.
Rationalisation, car is dying and have a couple too many road bikes, just picked up a very good CX650E for 500 bills (low maintenance touring)and the extra room in the shed would be great for finishing off the three other projects (76 GL1000, CB360 and KH100)and the transit would double as Bike transporter/bedroom for the "away" meetings like Broadford, Winton and PI. |

good decision popeye!,chuck everything in a van & go,i can't see the sense in utes/trailers,when you can just have one doing it all, bonus is (room permitting)accomodation is always there with you!,i started with a kombi, digressed with bongos(3),1 homer, then 4 urvans, now the transit, dedicated vanman eh?, |

Hi Mick I brought a x Aussi Post Transit A few Years Ago It's A pain because Aussi post imported them & ford australia doesn't want to know about them!!! the newer ones are a little bit better, I've changed about everything the last pain are the unservicable uni joints, seems like lots of vans are the same bugger up one & send it into the drive sharf fellows than they cut the ends off & fit common ones ($300) a end!! $1000 for two uni's & bearing in the middle!! all I did was cut the ends off & mig up 2 escort ends with good uni's & balance it as you go, I use mine as a business van 200klms a day every day for the last 2 years I didn't pay much for it so I had to expect a few bummers over the years but if you need help with anything I've may have a idea or two for you. Steve Qld PS I've just replace the prop valve thingy on mine cost about $5 so if it starts leaking brake fluid around the left hand rear axle, & some jobby at the brake mob starts talking big bucks, have I got a deal for you. |

G'day Steve, thanks for the info on prop shafts,a towie told me horror story about genuine prices for them,(for a sprinter,$2,500 worth!! )thought modifying would be the go!,mine seem ok sofar?,our mail vans down here have turbo diesels,is that whats in yours?,i thought they're were all imported?,made in England?,mine has european setup?(i keep hitting the wipers at intersections for the 1st couple daze! ),my brake pedals not exactly firm,so will investigate, fluid levels ok but!,cheers 4 now,Mick |

Yes Mick
Mines a 4 cyc petrol!! I've got a RS2000 engine in it now with a Stromberg Holden carby on it, with adjustable main jet I just lean it off around town & when the race bike in the back, I richen it up, My brakes started going soft on me & than one day woke up & no brakes so check it out the wrecker ones are about the same US & $1300 from the POMS I'll just replaced it with double ended joiners so all brakes work at the same time, instead of where the weight is, if you look underneath follow the B/lines & look for the joiners between the line thats what you want to "hmmm are" by pass the prop valve, no brake mob will tell you that, but will take $1300 & get a new one, I got the standard electronic dizzy & threw it away & went back to points goes like a cut snake now, the old dizzy advanced in two stages real slow but mines a 1990 model, believe me Mick I've done it all on the old Van goes like a ripper just got to get the rear springs done up, got to import the extra leaf from Spain they bloody tappered not normal "buggar" But I have a MC tyre fitting equipment tools etc etc & it drags it's bum when I put the lead weight race bike in the back, next thing maybe a 6 cyc ford or v6 holden on LPG Any way the footy comimg on so catch you again some time Steve OlD |

g'day Steve,RS2000 sounds good!,it's double knocker?,what revs will they do?,my tacho has no redline ,goes up to 10,000?,speedo goes to 260?(redvan's went to 160!)sitting on 120 @4000,(redvan does 125 @3250)transit's motor sounds busy,i guess it's just moderner, designed for europe autobahns?,when the tyres waer i'll stick 16" on to gear it up!, maybe instead of extra spring you could try adjustable air shocks, pump them up for extra load, let then down when theres no gear in the back?,justa thought?,cheers Mick ps football what football? |

I bought one a year or two back. High roof for sidecar and banch on top. I thought of putting a holden V6 3.6 L into it to get some grunt, and changing the whole diff. for a narrowed Ford Sedan/ V8 one. |
