 KH100 Bucket Racer

Hello everyone: I'm new to the list and I am looking for some information on building a Kawasaki KH100 Bucket Racer. I am based in W.A. and have a KH100 sitting in my workshop that only needs a clutch to make it rideable. My question is: is the KH100 suitable, as most of the Bucket Racers I have seen locally in Perth are Hondas. I think the main reason is that the CR80 six speed gear cluster can be fitted, as opposed to the five speed in the Kawasaki. I assume the CR80 cluster would also be close ratio. If the KH100 is suitable, can anyone provide any mod's / tuning information to get more power from the engine for racing. I also have a KH125 (siezed) from which I could use the front disc, although I would have to find a suitable hydraulic caliper & master cylinder.

Liam, if it is your firsat go at racing, just get the K going and start racing. After that people will come up and give you heaps og advice to choose from for any move thereafter. Good Luck

Liam, if you want to get serious with your bucket maybe you should talk to some of the guys in our club to get their advice. From memory we used to have 2 KH100s running owned by the Wilkinson family who havent been seen for a few years but we would still have contact details if you ask Marion Shaw for them. Steve Wilkinson would be the one to talk to.
Before you go too far down the road of serious tuning and development dont forget we have 2 levels of buckets running and to get started you would be better off at the lower level both cost wise and reliability wise. Heed Johns advice and get on the track first and develop at a controlled pace.
In answer to your original question the KH is suitable for development but if you assess properly the costs involved you will find it cheaper to buy a bike already sorted. If you wanted to go the H100 route there are a few around still, in fact I have one in my shed that is still in road going order that could be for sale subject to a couple of basic conditions.
