Ok so I have my historic bike .I got my club licence and did a few club meetings .Now I want to try racing at the southern classic .So I'll get a one day national licence to allow me to compete, easy I thought.I read up the rules and yes I should be able to do that.I make a few phone calls to hmrav and mv. No, we dont deal with them (the rule book does state apply to the race secretary) give us your phone no. and we'll have someone call you back.I'm still waiting.
SO MY QUESTION IS !!has anybody out there had a one day licence and how did you get it??? maybe I'm stupid but I can't workout how to get one

Welcome Mitch. Race Secretary(HMRAV) for the Sthn Classic is Liz Trounson 97547938.
Have you called MA not MV? They MUST be able to answer your question if no one else can....?
Your profile states return to racing after 20yrs, I think you must have held a Racing Licence in the last 10 yrs to qualify for a one event licence.
Good luck with everything and look forward to seeing you at the meeting cheers for now Keith.

Mitch I am the person responsible for answering your question.
Have you ever heard of holidays, work. And thought maybe they are getting a few more things done before they take on the sometimes thankless, but many times rewarding job of trying to help others.
The S/Classic is some time away, the rule you mentioned had that slight change few had heard of, that is a competancy test as an alternative to a licence in the past 10 years.
Further you and I have spoken on Thursday 3 August 2006 from memory and I have sourced the info.

You were pretty quick to slam dunk us.

Did Peter Wright from MV ring you directly as he said he would?
Curently the test has not been fully developed and things put in place. I am sorting that out with other states and MV as I write.
It all takes time. And I run my own business inbetween motorcycle racing stuff.
When I have confirmation of the test which we will not carry out at the track for the reasons I stated to you in the phone call, we are too busy on race morning,I will be back in contact.
I can say the test will involve the written rule book test as for all new licence holders and a practical test at Broadford under a coach, on one of the saturday practise sessions. Final details to be confirmed by Peter Wright at MV, and I imagine it will not be long.

Mitch, I have had this responce from MV. Is it correct from your point of view? I asked him if he had spoken with you about the one event nNational licences.
Peter Wright has advised me that he has rung you to discuss the issue. "Yes, He doesn't need one,[ national one event] he simply has to upgrade his current Senior Club licence to a Senior National, which is what he is going to do.
Regards,
Peter [Wright]."
