Hi Mick
I have had some good rides on the KTT at Mallala, I dont agree with trevor. i run two teeth higher than Winton on the c/shaft(velo) one less than Eastern Creek. I do have a very high third and dont get top till into the kink on the straight. If your brakes are 1st class you can be very fast at the end of the straight and outbrake into the hairpin, hence the benefit of the high gear. If you overdo it at the end of the straight the run off is safe, have never had to but have had the front tyre squealing and smoking a couple of times. ( even a narrow 21"}

Looking f/ward to catching up with you, staying in my shed, will have a bit of good red aboard. will take an extra steak for you, how is Jim going, regards Bruce

P S Ktt ended up major problems, hope to have fixed.

G'day Bruce,thanx Trevor,sounds like Lakeside gearing might be safe option!,i like to carry tall gearing,Bruce, Kenny's booked a shed,so i was going in with him,thanx for the offer,but we will share cooking duties eh?,hope Katies sorted out to your satisfaction,i'm still chasing timing side case 1/2,(i've finally run out of them),cranks being sorted out,later mk6 pin arrangement,have to hurry up & reassemble,so i can take pictures for @#$^ing log book,what do you do if you run 3 different fairings?,(bet they didn't think of that?),don't think i'l make sth/classic this time,pity it's always a good meeting,always next year!,see ya when i'm looking atcha,Mick.

Hi Mick

I have been thinking about gear ratios for Mallala, obviously vary from one bike to another , presumably trying to get info for your 2 . e g i only use top gear on the second half of the straight as i described before, 3rd is A1 on the 3 short staights, but, if your third gear is not high enough then maybe you have to feather a bit on the staight to get top on the short straights, maybe Trevor has a wide ratio box. I can remember being hopeleselly undergeared on the straight at Mac Park in 1991, went up a tooth a lot faster on the straight but lap time dropped. . Of course us enlightened people who run Velocettes can play around with gear ratios between races with the only sensible way of having the countershaft sprocket outside the clutch !!!!

Come oin the Magpies ( actually I was a Crows supporter being ex Adelaide )
I spose you are a NRL fan shame on you
