Can anyone help with copies of early 1960s South Australian or Victorian road race programs with a M. Hough or similar listed as riding a 500 Jawa OHC twin? I am also after any pics or recollections of this machine and rider for historical records of the bike I now own. It was built up in about 1960-61 here in Adelaide and ridden by M. Hough for a couple of years. I bought the machine, rebuilt it and raced it in historic events during the early 80s and am now rebuilding the old girl for regular racing. It had a much modified featherbed frame and a huge twin leading shoe brake and was built as a close replica of the DOHC and SOHC factory bikes raced in Europe in the 50s. Can anyone help please?

Hey Mick, Yeah, I got that article by Cathcart (lucky bastard!) but thanks for the offer. There were also a few of these motors in speedway TQs many years ago and a solo road racer one was raced by a Roger Barker from Victoria (I think) in the 50s. Another one was raced by Bill Woods in a scrambles sidecar in the 60s here in SA.
So far I've not come up with any info or pics of mine from when it was raced, but I'll keep looking. Thanks again, Greg |
