Hi folks,

we got off to a late start friday, overnighted at Dunkeld and arrived at the circuit and set up the Wombat Hilton just after lunch just near the pit entry corner next to some of the marshalls (must get a map and learn the names of the sections of the track),

what can I say,

The competition was good although the toughest battles were in the middle of most fields, the track is a challenge waiting to be met, the people we met and talked to were marvellous, competitors, officials and spectators alike were more than helpful answering my gormless questioning and adding to my limited knowledge. I got to see the briefing on Sunday morning and learn a bit there (to the chap who wanted to slowly pass under a yellow flag, nice try).

Saturday night was spent quietly absorbing the knowledge and wisdom of the paddock crowd, geez that mob know a lot (although being mostly BEARS fans I reserve my judgement).

Sunday was just excellent with a decent number of spectators and me turning into a pretzel trying to photograph everything at once with the mighty mini digital. It was nice to find out that we didn't have to decamp Sunday night and could stay and take a liesurely departure on Monday morning.

To all the Officials and Competitors who contributed to the event, thank you very much and we will be back.

Neill, sorry didn't manage to make your aquaintance on the weekend, but I will need to learn about this sidecar thing, the Front of the GL1000 looks like it is going on the CB750 which will leave the rest of it yearning for something to do......any thoughts out there if a viable period 5 outfit could be made from a 76 GL1000, it may not be competitive but **** it would be fun.

cheers

Popeye and Cathy

Gday Popeye+Cathy,
Glad ya made it to Broadford,it was a great weekend.Just hope you got to see the outfit runnin around.
On Saturday I had Ron Marten(previous owner)steer it for me 1st lap(warm up/practice)session was a 1.19 then straight into 1.11 then a low 1.10 for our qualifying 3rd lap around. Not bad considering that Ive never swung with Ron before and he hasnt ridden the outfit in 12 months.Ended up with 3 wins from 3 races so I was a chuffed chap come Saturday night.
Sunday was another great day with my usual rider(Leon DeVries) being able to steer it for me,and picking up second place to Ron and Chris Trounson.
Happy 21st Chris!!!
Apparently some blokes turned up and raced solos but I didnt see em.Did you John?
Apart from some slight niggly bike probs I had a top weekend.2 trophys confirm that!!!
The drunks were out in force, they drank the bar pretty much dry.
Managed a spot of plumbing with Big Trev at midnight, the waterpipe that feeds the drinking water tank blew out so we managed to fix that under torchlight...HMRAV 1 Forces of nature nil.
Hope all enjoyed as much as what I did.

Regards
Neill

Popeye it was great to have you come and say Hi. Sorry I did not have heaps of time to chat, but next time I shall plan things better to havetime to talk. Do I detect an interest in producing a sidecar????

Tony, we live in MT Gambier, but camped at Dunkeld Friday night on the way to Broadford.

Neill, saw the torch in the middle of the night, thought some poor fella was fixing his bike,,well done on your results on the weekend.

And yes fellas.....

sidecars are becoming more intriguing all the time, anyone got any info re getting a P5 Goldwing outfit up and running?? Will have to be a ground up build, but reckon we could have a phat time with it.

Also just sourced a spare engine for my practice solo and possibly a job at a bike shop, must be some good vibes floating around .
