The best way any movement can grow is when people involved become more involved and their actions draw in more people.
Following the Southern Classic 2004, one of the many people interested in Historic Racing made an offer to encourage the one section that is growing, the Forgotten Era solos. In recognition of the growth of this section and as an significant step in the efforts to increase the importance of the Southern Classic Festival, Rex Wolfenden got out of bed on Monday and rang to offer a Perpetual Trophy for this class to sit along side the Southern Classic and the Southern Post Classic Trophies. Rex commented that with the increase of this group and the fact that we had no trophy at all for this Class it was time.
He also asked if he could engrave the winner for this year as Peter Guest.
The committee considers it a wonderful gesture from the grass roots of the Historic Movement and we all hope that more people get out of bed early and do wonderful things that may encourage greater racing in the future.

Much thanks to Rex for donating the gong, as a young future FE entrant it is encouraging to see any support from the older brigade for our endeavours, I just hope the old boy doesn't turn his mind to 350/4's.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we may as well dance
