I know some of us are always looking at ways to involve more people in our sport. In the car fraternity they have a form of 'racing' known as 'regularity trials'. The guys nominate a lap time and points are added and subtracted for their deviation from the times, during the event (usually 2 points for every second over, and 1 point for every second under). The trial usually runs for a fixed time (15 minutes), and the bloke with the least points lost, wins. Not really my cup of tea, but it might appeal to those snoozers who just want a quick ride, and not race. Beauty is that CAMS lets the old guys run without a full licence, and they can go at their own speed - MV might allow recreational licence holders to participate.

Hi Alan Up here in Queensland we run regularity trials at our Historic Champs for the last (well I cannot remember when we didn't!!) Day/Week-end Licence over 15 minutes each day plus practice they get the most track time so it's good value for them, last Qld Champs we allmost had more Regularity riders than the racers!! A few were racers & didn't want the expense of getting a full licence & log books etc etc so they went in the trials & just belted around getting there fix over the week-end like I said before they had the most track time over the week-end sometimes we have it at lunch time as not to take up racing time. if it wasn't for the regularity people 43 in total, it would have been a very costly race meeting, saying all that I rode in Regularity once after a nasty accident oversea's & frame swap,on a finished!! kind of the night before & it gave me some track time to get my head & bike working ok !! PS it was scary as some of the people were all across the track & looking over there shoulders around corners & braking was a bit different also, I got black flagged on Sunday for going too fast & broke out the time barrier (I was too fast for the Trials & should be racing doh!!) in fact Alan they have both fast & slow trials & some of the old buggers get down to with-in a second split or two over the weekend. If you want the rules we go by & how to run the Regularity trails I can get it to you if you want, they seem to have the most fun over the week-end. Steve |

Steve, If you could send the rules to the web master of this site I'd be grateful. David Greening will possibly make them available to all, through a link. Thanks for your comment, it was most helpful. Best Regards, |
