I notice that other race meetings are promoted often within a nearby town. We ghave thought of a drawing activity by primary school kids, something with the high school, a street parade of machines, and perhaps giving posters to the shop keepers for a display. Has anybody got other ideas please?

Hmmmmmm perhaps providing the local area newspapers with a prewritten story, with a couple of spectacular race photos.
It has been my experience that small newspapers gobble up that sort of thing. They are always trying to fill their pages with something more exciting than the local footy game having to be abandoned due to a pitch invasion by sheep from an adjoining paddock, (don't laugh....this actually happened).
Also if the event is in an era with a regional television station, it often helps to speak with the director of news. I have gotten some good coverage for my sponsors that way when I was racing in the ARRCs. Offer one of their reporters a ride in a outfit prior to the race meeting. They always lap that up. and they usually show the story just before the meeting. Also they also tend to send a crew out to do a story on the meeting as well.
These are just my thoughts. I have used all of the above things on occasion and I have found that they quite often work a treat.

tHE sHIRE OF mITCHELL IS HAPPY TO CONSIDER A WRITTEN REQUest. There is a service road they have used for similiar things earlier. I am not sure the riders would partake anyway, what are your thoughts? |
