The purpose of this email is to ensure that all bodies are aware of the current situation relating to Historic Road Racing.

1. The 2004 Manual of Motorcycle Sport outlines the new rules that relate to this class.
Main changes are:
(i) Log Books. Log books must be produced at machine examination, and at any other times during a meeting, if requested by a meeting official.
(ii) If a log book cannot be produced, the machine cannot be used at the meeting. Exceptions to this rule apply if the log book has been left at home, etc. where an "Historic Log Book Declaration" can be signed by the entrant/rider, and the declaration fee be paid. The only other exception which applies, refers to an Overseas rider that has brought his own machine into the country for the race meeting. In this case the rider/entrant must complete an "Overseas Historic Machine use" form that has been approved prior to the race meeting.

There are no "Interim Log Books". All Australian machines must have been issued with, and be able to produce, a current log book.

2. Persons that are constructing a machine for use in historic road racing must submit plans, etc. to MA prior to completion. See rule # 13.1.1.5.

3. Fuel Use.
If Historic machines are using Leaded fuel, the entrant/rider must hold a "Leaded Fuel Passbook" which is available from MA.

Can you please ensure that this information is passed to all Stewards and Clerks of Course who will be officiating at race meetings that have an Historic Road Race component.
