I suggest we need to do something to get wide radio coverage from Mac Park, phillip island, winton AND broadford on the same frequency. A while back I investigated the possibility of getting access to the tourist radio on 88.8 FM. I notice it has come alive again in the Benalla area, and I believe it is in the hands of Sun FM. Anyone got any ideas? |

Listen in during Saturday morning to an interveiw with Richard Workman an Englishman who arrived at the circuit this afternoon during testing and said "can I be a flaggie for the weekend" Richard's home circuit is Brands Hatch and has worked SBK's in Europe and stateside. Will be well worth tuning to 87.9 Sidecar FM throughout the weekend. You will have to be very close to the circuit to receive but thems the breaks. Patrick |

Alan - I had to take a lend on John and call our station 87.9 Sidecar FM but it is also: 87.9 Mhz FM Classic,Post Classic, P5 87.9 Speedway FM 87.9 Dirt Track FM 87.9 Motocross FM 87.9 SuperMoto FM 87.9 SuperCross FM 87.9 Track Day FM We have a few ideas for the future to expand the service with a station with more horsepower. If rose city [I remember the F5000 series] was interested maybe we should talk. Patrick |

Alan - have made the change - will let you know the data you require soon as I can. First day of the Vic Historic Titles has gone very well. Local cop arrived to see where all the noise was coming from! Town is busy - shopkeepers happy - shire personal have been on site, Sunday's racing will be great - come on up from Melbourne, you can record the Clipsel. Patrick

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the titles - car trouble. I believe some time ago Mick Ronke at Winton had a bit of a confab with the ACA. The Winton FM station is not allowed to be heard in the City of Benalla. Seems a bit of a pity that we cannot get the FM stations 'linked' to cover Melbourne and the areas for about 100Km around each race circuit, at least. The Tourist Radio 88.8 FM is heard all around Australia, however I don't know if the stations are 'linked'. I suggest it would be a reasonable request to ask the Federal Government to help our sport (and motor sport generally) by providing a licence for FM radio coverage. We'd only need ONE frequency to cover ALL motorcycle road race meetings. It could be used locally for small meetings, and 'linked' when the MotoGP and Championships are on. If we can get our own frequency then perhaps we can broadcast the race news. I know several people (Mick Ronke included) make appearances on both TV and radio - we could broadcast the sound track, and advertise future meetings. Incidentally, if you've ever heard the Tourist Radio 88.8 FM, you'll agree with me it's a complete waste of time, the material is years old, and of little interest to anyone. We'd make much better use of it! |
