OK, I have spoken to MA today after an e-mail from a gentleman this afternoon requesting information on getting his log book back sooner (thanks for the reply Cathy (I think it was her who I spoke to)).

If you are in need of your log books you need to allow atleast 4 weeks for their return. There is no use asking this site to speed them up as MA control the issuing of log books and the amount of time to send them out.

If in exceptinal cases, they may send out a letter advising it is OK to race, but this would be on a case by case thing.

Can you please make sure you leave yourself plenty of time if you need a log book, and get off your rear ends and apply now. This has been known about for some time now and there are still users who are leaving it to the last minute. Once you have it, it is less to worry about later, so do it NOW.

Thanks for your support on the log book issue. There is no set time for the issue of a log book, and if there is a problem, the time can run well over the 4 weeks.

Your advice that a preliminary letter may be sent, is not correct.
The ruling now is that a competitor must present a log book at scrutineering, or he will not be allowed on the track. No log book, no ride.

I hope this will clear up any queries.

Thanks for that Ross.

As Ross has stated, "NO LOG BOOK, NO RIDE" and this is from MA.

So as I said "get off your rear ends and apply now"

OK, we have a new Historic Log Book Application online as supplied from Ross Martin (MA Commissions Manager).

All new applications need to be on the new form, all old forms will not be accepted.

The no Log Book no ride ruling has been in for some time now and it is really how it should be although there will always be difficult circumstances such as the one I currently find myself in which is no fault of MA or the system.
I sold my bike after having it up for sale for so long I had almost forgotten about it. This unfortunately coincided with the upcoming National Championships which I had intended running in. So at quite short notice I bought a chassis that I knew of and fitted it up with all that was required laying around in my shed and duly took the required photos and sent off my application to MA. I did make the effort to put as much detail as I could in the application to try to avoid any delays and now I wait. If unsuccessful do I complain about MA, the system, or the fact that cheats made the use of Log Books a necessity. No I just live in hope and if I do not manage to get my Log Book in time for Winton I will just go anyway and support the rest of our guys who are better organised than I and have a good time anyway.
It is a pity that Log Books are required but the fact is they are and now most people have them it is not the issue it was two years ago.

Al,
If you look at the Q+A survey sheet that is currently doing the rounds,The question (Q11) was asked to the 69 people who took the survey at the S/Classic were logbooks implemented correctly Yes14 No55, accuratley Yes11 No58 and fairly Yes11 No 58,yet should they stay? Yes60 No9.Very interesting!!!
Personally there a waste of time and there purpose is very debatable, and it doesnt look like they(MA) will ever get rid of em.

Its not what you ride,Its how fast you ride it!!!

Neil, I do find it interesting that the majority believe they should stay, which also agrees with my feelings. As to how they were implemented etc I believe that with the benefit of hindsight it would have been done differently and probably in more detail. If MA does implement its proposal to review all machines that have been issued with Log Books to date using an appointed inspector to view each machine independantly then we may get to where it was intended in the first place and the majority of the anomolies that exist at present will be resolved.
It is a pity that the few have made it difficult for the majority but that is how life seems to be these days.
