"Title - International Post Classic Solo Eligibility - All machines must fit in to the Post Classic or Forgotten Era periods as defined by the regulations of the source country. i.e, England, Australia and NZ.
Requirements - Each machine must comply with the national regulations of the source country. Ie Australian machines must comply with the GCR's for Australia, etc. No machine can adopt the best components of each national regulations and compete in this event. Any machine entered can only score points for the country to which national regulations it conforms to." Any constructive comments would be welcome. If this post looks familiar it is the same as one I placed in the POst Classic section. It was taken over by discussions unrelated. At this stage the concept is waiting for the promoters to pick up. The English bolkes that promted the idea will be here for 14 days to attend The Island Clasic at the end of Januart. Thus far we cant find another meeting for them to attend. Can you think of any?

Not a good time for Pommies to arrive in Australia, if they want to participate in any events north of the Dividing Range! If they wanted to run at Winton or Broadford, for example, they'd die in the heat! How about trying to get them here for October and November? I suggest we need to get together (all potential promoters) and try to get organised so these guys can get a good go while they're here. If they are going to pay their way here, they might as well get value for money. And if Aussies are paying the same goes double! Is there a meeting at Mac Park they can attend in January? |

Unless there is a proposal from the Historic Club in Adelaide we only have a Track/ride day pencilled in for January, works in progress to move the pits and widen the short straight for start/finish and grid may still be underway then anyway. The "Master" meeting in October will be the last with the old layout and whatever gets in next will be the first using the new setup. Personally I would be chuffed to see riders from abroad at the park but it would have to be looked at from management level (that's the guys at the other side of the table at committee meetings, I'm on the L plate side ) |
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we may as well dance |

so does anyone have any news yet about whether this event will go ahead? at the island classic there are a full card of events and all 3 days seem to be pretty well full. it's hard to imagine there would be enough time to fit in another class, that would mean an extra 4 events a day at least.i have been told that this event would replace the current P5 races BUT i have recently read this wouldn't be the case. if the promoters decide this event will not go ahead, will the UK riders just decide to change their bikes to comply with the Aussie rules and come anyway? or boycott Australia all together and race in NewZealand, where this challenge originated from in the first place? |
There are those who do, those who used to do and those who never did.. why is this 3rd group always trying to convince everyone they know best? |

HHH I have been the person collating all the commeents about the proposal. I note that you were the first to mention that the ICC would replace all the P5 races at the Isalnd Classic. MY REQUEST Please get the facts before making statements. There has been nothing written about such a proposal, I have spent hours telling people how have rung that was not a documented suggestion. I dont mind if it is asked as a question which can be answered properly. Now back to the topic. The promoters are talking to the UK and NZ bikes. the Vic. HMC has suggestted a format that would permit them to compete, that formay does not over ride existing P5 races. The proposal provides for 2 races per day not 4. Whether it can be fitted into the program is for the promoter to plan, but I am aware from my position as an organiser there are some poorly represented events which may get amalgamated or bumped off. NOTHING has been determined along those lines as yet.I feel the comment boycott Australia may be a bit strong, they have never been here yet, their bikes dont fit our rules, we are trying to accommodate them, if they cant get down here that will not be on anybody else shoulders other than PIMS, the Island Classic promoter. Also, I dont believe the idea caame from NZ first, we recieved an email direct from the UK asking could they come on down and race. I can say, personally, that the HMC has decided following this approach to chase other teams around the world, I have set up another topic to discuss this. I ask that all competiotors think about it and find overseas riders on holiday etc that may want to come to any meeting. Then we need machines, billeting and transport for them. If we get it right it could be alot of fun for all.

sorry for the sarcasm in my reply, when you do hear of any developments then could you let others know of this. plenty of riders seem to be aware of this proposed event and they all have opinions of whether or not it should go ahead and under what type of rules. but surely the promotors will have to have a decision soon as to give overseas competitors enough time to get their bikes ready and shipped here. |

I congratulate whoever is trying to organise for the Pommies and New Zealanders to come here. For too long the expense of running historic meetings has fallen on the competitors. Perhaps the initiative will bring a paying crowd of spectators. I've always been convinced that historic racing is good value for spectators, and that the sport can be 'bigger than Ben Hur'. When PI has brought international riders here previously, promotion has been minimal, yet a huge crowd of Italians turn up to see Ago and Umberto Masetti. When the English Speedway teams come to Australia, there is always a good following. Let's hope the same happens at PI next January when the post classic guys turn up! P.S. let's get InCA here sometime also, some of our A graders might come out and cane their backsides. |

Thanks HHH, the UK need to be loaded on a ship in October. PIMS the promoters are talking now with UK and NZ teams. PIMS is also going through an ownership change so its been difficult to focus on the proposal at the same time. As for riders talking, that is great, but they need to learn to pull their fingers out and put something on the web sites or write a letter. Talk is cheap. The Victorian Historic Management Committee has been doing the talking so far and I have had to ring around blokes I know or am aware they may enter such a race to get an opinion. The doors are open for anybody to have input, but they have to approach us. We are available through here, MV, MA or their club. If it is important to them. please encourage them to contact us on this issue or any other issue. As for InCa, I dont know. |

This plan is moving ahead I think. Heres a web site with the UK slant about it. You must be logged in to see this link. |

Had a look at the web site. Looks like it might be worth running the poms in a combined over 500cc Period 4 and Period 5 feature race. That way we would have Rex and the boys as well as Stuart Loly and Rudy Schenk, and a few TZ750s to have a go at them. Judging from what's on the site, it should really be worth going to Phillip Island in January to have a look. Their machinery is superb. |

Just reporting that PIMS, Fergus Cameron is interested in the proposal and now needs to work the issues through with his team. Lets keep our fingers crossed. |
