Hello,

I today asked the TAC (Transport Accident Commission - Victoria) if I could use some of the content from their web site, and to my surprise I had a quick response from the TAC which was great. Both Allan and my self thought that it would be good to show Victorian users what the TAC is currently doing for motorcycle riders with their You must be logged in to see this link. for those interested.

The TAC declined to allow us to use some of their content, which I understand, but granted us the ability to link to the page.

I also spoke to Victoria Strike from the TAC about the possibility of the TAC taking up some of the advertising space here at Classic Motorcycling Australia. This looks promising in respect to Classic Motorcycling Australia and the TAC. I shall keep you posted.

Regards,

David

I made a suggestion on the ABC talk-back radio the other night. It was simply that when drivers are caught by police putting other people's lives at risk, either by speeding or just being stupid, when they come to court the judge should require them to undertake advanced driver/rider training.
They should have to return to the court within a reasonable time, with a certificate of competence from courses such as: The Australian Superbike School, or the John Bowe School of Advanced Driving.
It would be interesting to review the statistics of road deaths amongst those who race on the bitumen circuits. I suggest that anyone who races a bike or a car is much less likely to get into trouble on public roads.
It's all about competence, and I suggest our current licencing system doesn't really promote it!
I wonder how many of the kids who speed, would be so keen, if they had to look forward to a ride in a V8 or Superbike at Phillip Island, lapping within a few seconds of the lap record? Do them all some good, I say!
Best Regards,

Alan Cotterell
