One issue that arose from last nights meting is the lack of representation by Historic riders at the relevant Historic commissions. In Vic. the HMRAV speaks on behalf of Historic Riders, but the facts are many other riders are in other clubs and they dont even become aware of any issues. So, we need to look at the club communication system already in place to see if it is meeting the needs of riders. It appears as if less riders are attending club meetings, therefore not being aware of discussions even happenning. How can it be remidied?

I believe the answer rests with MA/MV. When any rider applies for a Comp Licence they should be asked for their email address, if they have one. It is then quite simple to mail to the list on the MA/MV web sites. This would pick up a lot of interested parties.
It could be done on You must be logged in to see this link. but I don't think we'd get the coverage.
Also MA/MV need to maintain ordinary mailing lists for special interest groups, so we can contact these snoozers.

I am not sure I agree. The current comunication system invloves MA to the LCB, MV in our case, the clubs and then the members. But members and clubs dont seem to be getting it together at the moment. Also, we need a system that provides for snail mail and email, but does not invlove heaps of postage or cut one section out.

I've been involved in clubs and road racing since 1958. The ACU (now MA/MV), the clubs and the members have NEVER got it together, in the past. The system works by members attending club meetings fighting with the autocratic chairmen and other members to get the delegate to take an idea or complaint to MA/MV, then waiting to see if the suggestion has been received or acted upon.
It all depends on attending meetings and fighting with a representaive system (of democracy).
I can suggest a better way. How about having issues raised on the MA/MV web sites. Putting up a discussion paper for public comment. Getting the club delegates to vote. Then change the rules to suit!
That way we might actually get something done on a democratic basis.
Until recently I was unable to get to club meetings - I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY! So the system just didn't work for me.
Best Regards,

Can we stick to the point, riders need to find what is going on. The same problem of meeting managemnt can occurr at any level, so why chnge the structure just get it working again. But my point here is how do we locate who the Historic riders are so we can represent them at the state based Historic Managment Committees, this topic is not about a revolution .
