Last night I put forward to the Historic Commissioners the genisis of an idea to run a forum to discuss all matters w.r. to Historic Racing. Apparently this concept is not new it was floated some years ago and did not move far. The HC will decided whether to go ahead with the idea. I am jumping the gun here, but if it goes ahead an important part of the deal is the direct involvement of licence holders. Now I am looking for feedback here, please dont dump about it wont work etc or inform me of a tank for sale in Timbucktoo, just stick to the point. Would you actively participate in such a forum with written submissions?

John,
I would, but where would the forum operate from? Would it be on these forums in it's own area (which I can setup) or another place?

It is still being discussed at the moment. My concept involved submissions to the state based Historic Management Committees. Each stae committee would review them all at an open public meeting where to writers would present their points. A summary would be sent to all other states and again an open meeting would work through for a final comment. That coment would go back to the National Historic Commissioners for consideration. The use of the web was discussed , and concern about lack of access for all was mentioned. But I did suggest a series of polls with the same starting points could be presented somewhere for those who want to use the web. These polls could shopw the general style of the discussions and web users could make their own written submissions based on the web polls. Could a poll with about 50-60 questions be created? |

I have the list at my other computer I shall fix that. Then I reckon we should preempt any action and put them up even to help fine tune the questions it may be vert helpful in improving the Historic scene. I shall send them tommorrow David. |

David, I bin thinkin. How would a poll with 60 questions and answeres Y / N/ maybe be set up so it was user freindly and we could see the results. Is it a curly one, or something any sidecar or even solo rider could solve? |

I can run you through them if need be, but it is self explanatory when you see how to enter them. I could dump the weekly poll and set the poll to run through the forum if you want. |

I think give it a go, nobody has objected yet so lets get in first! I have a paper copy with me now and could enter them when it starts raining. CYA |

A staring poll has been placed under weekly polls. Maybe David can put a limk in to show you where it is. Please give us your opinion. |

John and David, I think this intiative is excellent and long overdue. I believe this web site and the HMRAV site both have a role to play in this activity. I am always willing to write submissions on ways historic racing can be improved. I suggest we need a short document on how submissions can be made, and post on the web, and ask MA/MV to mail to all licence holders. Best Regards, (and GOOD WORK!) |

The documents exist it is now time to wait for the ultimate decision from MA. If it goes ahead we can seek the written submmisons, otherwise the poll would be a great insght to the issue anyway |
